Project "Free MMO!" Which are worth it?
Hey guys!
We all know there's a ton of free-to-play MMOs out there. And it's hard to figure out which ones are worth the time and which ones aren't.
Well, we want to do the work for you.
Suggest some Free MMOs for us and we'll take a poll after we get a good number of suggestions.
We want to do a series of shows (2 or 3 at most) where we discuss them. One on each show. The ones we play will be YOUR choice!
Soooo... how about suggestions?
Currently we're planning on running these episodes in January.
Update: OK here's the deal. We have a bunch of good suggestions so far. We will continue to accept suggestions until December 1st. At that time, we will skim the list down to 10, and put up a poll for YOU GUYS to choose what Free MMOs we play. The series will contain 3 shows.
Suggestions so far:
Atlantica
Bots!!
Dream of Mirror Online (DoMO)
Dungeon Runners
FlyFF
Gunbound
Holic
La Tale
Mabinogi
Omerta
PlaneShift
Rappelz
Runescape
Scions of Fate
Shaiya
Silkroad Online
zOMG!

Re: Project "Free MMO!" Which are worth it?
Here's one that is supposedly highly rated that I've been meaning to try:
Shaiya
It's also been around since 2007, so I'm assuming that you don't need a state of the art machine to run it and you can tell that it has at least a little bit of staying power. It won a couple awards including GameBorder's Best MMORPG of 2007, and in a Reader's Choice contest hosted by MMOSITE it got first place for Best Graphics and second place for Most Anticipated Game.
It also plays (from what I hear) similar to a WoW, Guild Wars, or Warhammer so it should be fairly accessible to MMO vets.

Sauman... that's a new one. If you add in an "R" in the right place, I can be a confused misguidedly evil wizard in a wonderful land of Middle Earth. geekdom ftw!

Mabinogi (by the people who did Maple Story)
and
DOMO (Dream of Mirror Online)
I've played a bit of both, and thought they were both fairly decent

I've been seeing a lot of ads for that one as of late. I've been quite curious about it.
